Town of Bourne, MA Expands Access to Care with Care Solace

BOURNE, MACare Solace, a leader in mental health care coordination, is proud to announce its partnership with the Town of Bourne, Massachusetts. Through this partnership, Bourne residents now have access to Care Solace’s 24/7 care coordination services, making it easier to find mental health care, substance use treatment, and social services support when help is needed most.

Located at the gateway to Cape Cod, Bourne is home to more than 20,000 residents and serves as an important hub for the Upper Cape region. Cape Cod has long faced a shortage of behavioral health providers relative to its population, a challenge that is compounded by the seasonal nature of the regional economy and the isolation many year-round residents experience outside of summer months.

Finding the Right Care

With this new partnership, residents can now connect with a real person any time, day or night, by calling (888) 515-7881 or visiting www.caresolace.com/ma-bourne to search anonymously for providers. Once connected, a dedicated Care Companion identifies licensed providers matched to the resident’s needs, insurance, and location, then books the appointment directly and follows up to confirm it was a good fit. The service is free at every step and covers all insurance types, including Medicare, Medicaid, private plans, and sliding-scale options.

"Bourne has worked hard to remove barriers people face when seeking treatment and recovery. Care Solace is the right fit for our community because they make it easy for residents to find vetted, local providers who are accepting new patients," said Stephen Berdos, Implementation Coordinator, Town of Bourne.

The Access Challenge on Cape Cod

Across Massachusetts, mental health providers see far fewer patients annually than primary care physicians, creating a statewide bottleneck that hits smaller communities hardest. On Cape Cod, that bottleneck is sharpened by geography, provider recruitment challenges, and a year-round population that is disproportionately older and more isolated than statewide averages. Depression, grief, anxiety, and trauma-related conditions are prevalent among older adults and veterans, two groups that make up a significant share of Bourne’s permanent population, and both groups are historically less likely to seek care without a trusted, supported entry point.

The partnership extends to Bourne town employees and first responders as well, ensuring that the people who serve this community have the same access to behavioral health support as the residents who depend on them.
